La Marzocco Linea PB commercial espresso machine

Built for Cafes

La Marzocco's Best-Selling Machine

Named for Piero Bambi, the engineer behind decades of La Marzocco's most respected machines, the Linea PB is the first full update to the Linea platform's technical and stylistic design in nearly 25 years of production. It keeps the dual-boiler, saturated-group architecture that made the Linea family a commercial standard, then adds a digital interface, Auto Brew Ratio dosing, and a refined, lower-profile body built to give baristas more counter space and more control.

Dual Boilers

Separate insulated boilers for brewing and steaming, so neither one competes for heat.

Auto Brew Ratio

Integrated drip tray scales dose by weight or brew ratio, not just volume.

Digital Display

Shot timers, flow pulse counter, and system alerts, right on the front panel.

Authorized Dealer

Official La Marzocco authorized dealer. Full warranty support included.

The Machine

What Makes the Linea PB Different

The Linea PB carries the iconic La Marzocco stainless steel body forward, but with simplified lines and a lower profile than the original Linea Classic, giving baristas more visible work area on a busy bar. Behind that redesign is a completely reworked pre-infusion system: a conical valve assures progressive control of water flow and pressure through an internal orifice before full pressure is applied, while a paddle valve controls pre-infusion independently on each group. That means one group can be pre-infusing while another is extracting at full pressure, reducing channeling and improving shot balance without any extra effort from the barista.

Every function that used to require a technician's screwdriver is now available from the machine's own digital interface. Boiler temperatures, brewing volume, hot water tap dose, and auto-backflush are all barista-adjustable on the front panel. See the full specifications on La Marzocco's official Linea PB page ↗.

"Water never leaves the coffee boiler during the brewing process, ensuring unsurpassed thermal stability, shot after shot."

Sizing & Configuration

Choosing the Right Group Count and Configuration

If you are unsure which configuration fits your projected daily cup count, Bean and Brew Technologies can walk through your layout and volume expectations and recommend the right group count before you order.

Group Count Best For
2 Group The most common configuration for independent cafes. Room for two baristas during a rush.
3 Group High-volume cafes with long peak-hour lines and multiple baristas.
4 Group The highest-volume settings, drive-thru operations, and multi-unit flagship locations.

AV or AV with Scales: Which Configuration Fits Your Bar

Unlike the Linea Classic S, the Linea PB is not offered in a semi-automatic (EE) version. Every Linea PB is Auto-Volumetric, and the real decision is whether to add integrated drip tray scales for Auto Brew Ratio dosing.

Choose Standard AV If…

Your team is comfortable dialing in and reprogramming volumetric dose buttons, and you want the simplest, most direct version of the platform.

Choose AV with Scales (ABR) If…

You want the machine to dose by weight or brew ratio, need Mass Mode for a scale-free workflow, or run a specialty program where repeatability across baristas matters most.

Comparison

Linea PB vs Linea Classic S: How to Decide

Cafe owners comparing La Marzocco machines often land on the Linea PB and the Linea Classic S, its more straightforward sibling. Both share the same core DNA: dual insulated boilers, saturated groups, and PID temperature control. The Linea Classic S is available in 1, 2, or 3 group, in either AV or EE (semi-automatic) operation, with a brushed stainless finish and a lower up-front cost thanks to simpler internals.

The Linea PB steps that up with a digital display, Auto Brew Ratio dosing with integrated scales, SmartSteam, Eco Mode, and a lower-profile design with more counter work area, and it is offered in 2, 3, or 4 group. For cafes that want dosing precision, onboard diagnostics, and the most advanced version of the Linea platform, the Linea PB is the better fit. For cafes that want the same shot quality and thermal stability with a simpler, more cost-effective machine, the Linea Classic S is worth a look. Either way, both machines are backed by the same Bean and Brew Technologies installation, warranty, and factory-trained service team.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How many groups does the La Marzocco Linea PB come in?

The Linea PB is available in 2, 3, or 4 group configurations, so it can be sized for a steady independent cafe up to the highest-volume, multi-barista bar.

What configurations does the Linea PB offer?

The Linea PB is offered as standard Auto-Volumetric (AV), with programmable dose buttons per group, or as AV with integrated drip tray scales for Auto Brew Ratio (ABR) dosing. Unlike the Linea Classic S, the Linea PB is not offered as a semi-automatic (EE) machine.

How much does a La Marzocco Linea PB cost?

Pricing depends on group count, standard AV versus AV with Scales, voltage, and any custom options such as color. Contact Bean and Brew Technologies for a current quote based on your cafe's specific configuration.

What is the difference between the Linea PB and the Linea Classic S?

Both machines share dual insulated boilers, saturated groups, and PID temperature control. The Linea PB adds a digital display, Auto Brew Ratio dosing with integrated scales, SmartSteam, Eco Mode, and a lower-profile design, and it is available in 2, 3, or 4 group. The Linea Classic S is available in 1, 2, or 3 group, in AV or EE operation, at a lower cost of ownership.

Does the Linea PB need a water filter?

Yes. Proper filtration is essential to protect the boilers and group heads from scale on any dual-boiler machine. Bean and Brew Technologies tests your water on-site for a fee and handles standard filtration installs in-house, bringing in our partner, Purifi H2O, when a reverse osmosis system is needed.

How much power does the Linea PB require?

Power requirements scale with group count. The 2 group model draws 4600 watts on a 30 amp service, the 3 group model draws 6100 watts on a 50 amp service, and the 4 group model draws 8000 watts, also on a 50 amp service.

Does Bean and Brew Technologies install and service the Linea PB?

Yes. As an authorized La Marzocco dealer, Bean and Brew Technologies handles professional installation, bench testing, and ongoing service for the Linea PB across NJ, NY, CT, and PA.
