Built for Cafes
An Heirloom Built for a Modern Bar
First introduced in 2005, the GB5 cut distinctive curves into the straight-edged Linea shell, giving La Marzocco a second design language alongside its flagship. Two decades later, the GB5 S carries that heritage forward as the last machine designed under the supervision of honorary president Piero Bambi, updated with the same Luminaire electronics found on the Linea PB, Strada, and KB90, along with a built-in water sensor, a redesigned front panel for better group visibility, and two red Florentine lilies on the side shields that nod to the brand's origins.
Dual Boilers
Separate insulated boilers for brewing and steaming, so neither one competes for heat.
EE, AV or ABR
The only La Marzocco machine offered in all three configurations on one platform.
Built-In Water Sensor
Monitors conductivity and hardness as water enters the machine.
Authorized Dealer
Official La Marzocco authorized dealer. Full warranty support included.

The Machine
Classic Italian Design Meets Modern Temperature Stability
The GB5 S keeps the gracious lines and harmonious curves that have defined the GB5 line since 2005, but the internals have been completely overhauled. Proprietary Luminaire electronics bring the same connected, app-ready platform found on La Marzocco's newer machines, while a redesigned front panel and partially exposed groups give baristas a clearer view of extraction and more visibility into the brewing process.
A built-in water sensor measures conductivity and hardness as water enters the machine, allowing operators to monitor water quality and verify filtration performance without additional testing tools. When paired with AISI 316L stainless steel boilers, which resist heavy-metal leaching into the brewing water more effectively than standard stainless steel, the GB5 S is built to protect both the coffee and the machine itself over the long term. See the full specifications on La Marzocco's official GB5 S page ↗.
"The understated side shields, elegant Florentine lilies, and subtle insignia of il marzocco on the cup rail combine to give this machine the feel of an heirloom built to stand the test of time."

Sizing & Configuration
Choosing the Right Group Count and Configuration
If you are unsure which configuration fits your projected daily cup count, Bean and Brew Technologies can walk through your layout and volume expectations and recommend the right group count before you order.
| Group Count | Best For |
|---|---|
| 2 Group | The most common configuration for independent cafes. Room for two baristas during a rush. |
| 3 Group | High-volume cafes with long peak-hour lines and multiple baristas. |
| 4 Group | The highest-volume settings, drive-thru operations, and multi-unit flagship locations. |
EE, AV, or ABR: Which Configuration Fits Your Bar
The GB5 S is one of the few La Marzocco machines available in all three operating styles on the same platform, so the right choice comes down to workflow rather than a tradeoff in build quality or thermal stability.
Choose EE If…
Your team values hands-on control over every extraction, changes beans frequently, or is running a training-focused program.
Choose AV If…
You run a high-volume bar with multiple baristas and want programmed shot volumes for consistent, repeatable pours.
Choose ABR If…
You want the machine to dose by weight or brew ratio, and repeatability across baristas matters most to your program.
Comparison
GB5 S vs Linea Classic S vs Linea PB: How to Decide
Cafe owners choosing from La Marzocco's core commercial lineup usually decide among the GB5 S, the Linea Classic S, and the Linea PB. All three share dual-insulated boilers, saturated groups, and PID temperature control, so the decision comes down to styling, configuration flexibility, and features rather than shot quality.
The Linea Classic S offers the most straightforward, cost-effective platform in 1-, 2-, or 3-group configurations, AV-only or EE-only. The Linea PB steps up with a digital display, Auto Brew Ratio dosing, and a lower-profile modern body, in 2-, 3-, or 4-group, AV or ABR only, with no EE option. The GB5 S sits alongside the Linea PB in terms of features and electronics, but keeps a more classical European silhouette with Florentine styling details, and is the only one of the three offered in all three configurations: EE, AV, or ABR. For cafes that want that heritage look with modern internals and maximum configuration flexibility, the GB5 S is the strongest fit.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
How many groups does the La Marzocco GB5 S come in?
The GB5 S is available in 2-, 3-, or 4-group configurations, so it can be sized for a steady independent cafe up to the highest-volume, multi-barista bar.
What configurations does the GB5 S offer?
The GB5 S is available in semi-automatic (EE), auto-volumetric (AV), or auto-volumetric with integrated scales for Auto Brew Ratio dosing (ABR). It is one of the few La Marzocco machines offered in all three configurations on the same platform.
How much does a La Marzocco GB5 S cost?
Pricing depends on group count, EE, AV, or ABR configuration, voltage, and any custom options such as color. Contact Bean and Brew Technologies for a current quote based on your cafe's specific configuration.
What is the difference between the GB5 S and the Linea Classic S or Linea PB?
All three share dual-insulated boilers, saturated groups, and PID temperature control. The GB5 S keeps a classical European design with Florentine styling details and is the only one of the three offered in EE, AV, and ABR configurations. The Linea Classic S offers a simpler, more cost-effective platform in AV or EE only. The Linea PB offers a modern, lower-profile body in AV or ABR only, with no EE option.
Does the GB5 S need a water filter?
